CALL FOR PARTICIPATION:

				CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

   8th International Conference on Mobile Data Management (MDM'07)

		 Mannheim, Germany, May 7 - 11, 2007

		    http://mdm2007.uni-mannheim.de

		  Sponsored by the IEEE CS and Infos
		In Cooperation with the VLDB Endowment

SCOPE:

The rapid advances in computing and wireless communication
technologies along with their integration into commodity devices such
as personal digital assistants, mobile phones, and portable computers
provide a technical infrastructure that enables a wealth of mobile
services and applications. These include scenarios where seamless
access to a computing infrastructure is provided, scenarios where
interaction and data sharing among mobile users occur in mobile ad-hoc
networks, and hybrid scenarios that combine these two.

The continued miniaturization of computing devices along with
improvements in the performance/price ratio enable new services and
applications, e.g., in environmental monitoring and transportation.
Although substantial research has been conducted, this area remains
ripe with open research challenges, e.g., in relation to context-aware
computing, including location-based services; ubiquitous computing;
mobile applications in hybrid networks; and data management in sensor
networks.

This year's conference has an exciting program:

* Keynotes by:

  - Karl Aberer, professor for distributed information systems at the
    EPFL and Director of the Swiss National Centre for Mobile
    Information and Communication Systems

  - Ralf Hartmut Güting, professor for database systems at the
    University of Hagen, Germany

* Presentations of 26 technical papers

* Presentations of 7 demos

* 3 advanced technology seminars:

  - Research Issues in Location-Aware Wireless Sensor Networks

  - Privacy in Location-Based Services: State-of-the-Art and Research
    Directions

  - Location-Aware Query Processing and Optimization

* 5 one-day workshops on important topics in data management,
  mobility, sensor networks, etc. The workshops will be held the day
  before and after the main conference (see program below).

Registration is now open: http://mdm2007.uni-mannheim.de/

The cut-off date for early registration is April 1, 2007. Please
register today to guarantee the best rates.

The entire team of organizers looks forward to seeing you at MDM in
Mannheim!
